Peter C. Clendenin An association executive with over 25 years of experience in long term care, Peter Clendenin has led both state and national health care associations. Mr. Clendenin has served on several commissions and task forces that have researched the needs and problems of the elderly. His education consists of a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a Master’s degree in Public Administration. He has served on the adjunct faculty at Virginia Commonwealth University. Mr. Clendenin’s background also includes a 13-year term as President of the Virginia Health Care Association, Executive Director of the New Hampshire Health Care Association, and service as Virginia’s Assistant Secretary of Human Resources in the Governor’s Cabinet. Prior to this, he worked for the State Legislatures of Virginia and New York. Peter Clendenin has been with NASL since 1997 and is an active member of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE). Alan Peterson Alan Peterson joined NASL in 2006, after serving as Assistant Director, Federal Relations for the American Optometric Association (AOA) for 15 years. Alan also spent 12 years on the staff of U.S. Representative Thomas J. Tauke (R-IA), where he supervised state operations and served as a senior legislative assistant on Capitol Hill. He is a native Iowan, and he holds a MA from the University of Iowa, and a BA from Wartburg College. Laura De La Calzada Laura de la Calzada is NASL’s director of administrative services and has been with the Association since its move from Austin, Texas in 1997. She has perfected the art of multi-tasking and serves NASL as our office manager, accountant, webmaster, meeting registrar, and tech support department. Originally from the Bronx, Laura’s varied background includes stints in communications, banking and personal law as well as commercial real estate development. Annessa Kirby Annessa Kirby is NASL’s director of membership services and serves as the point of contact for membership recruitment and the Information Technology Committee. Annessa has worked for long term care associations in various roles since graduating from George Mason University in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts in Interpersonal and Organizational Communication. Mrs. Kirby is a member of American Society of Association Executives (ASAE), American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), Chi Omega Fraternity and is a loyal San Diego Chargers fan.
